Cloud computing is a type of Internet-based computing that provides shared computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., computer networks, servers, storage, applications and services), which can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort. Cloud computing and storage solutions provide users and enterprises with various capabilities to store and process their data in either privately owned, or third-party data centers that may be located far from the user–ranging in distance from across a city to across the world. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economy of scale, similar to a utility (like the electricity grid) over an electricity network.
Advocates claim that cloud computing allows companies to avoid up-front infrastructure costs (e.g., purchasing servers). As well, it enables organizations to focus on their core businesses instead of spending time and money on computer infrastructure. Proponents also claim that cloud computing allows enterprises to get their applications up and running faster, with improved manageability and less maintenance, and enables Information technology (IT) teams to more rapidly adjust resources to meet fluctuating and unpredictable business demand.
In 2009, the availability of high-capacity networks, low-cost computers and storage devices as well as the widespread adoption of hardware virtualization, service-oriented architecture, and autonomic and utility computing led to a growth in cloud computing. Companies can scale up as computing needs increase and then scale down again as demands decrease. In 2013, it was reported that cloud computing had become a highly demanded service or utility due to the advantages of high computing power, cheap cost of services, high performance, scalability, accessibility as well as availability.
As the cloud computing arm and a business unit of Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA), Alibaba Cloud provides a comprehensive suite of global cloud computing services to help power and grow your business. Alibaba Cloud ranks as a top five global cloud services provider, according to a 2015 IDC report on the public cloud market, and is the leading cloud provider in the China market.
Elastic Compute Service (ECS) offers you full control to consume compute resources from the cloud on a pay-as-you-go basis. As a user you can simply rent compute resources from Alibaba Cloud in the form of virtual machines known as instances.
Alibaba Cloud's Elastic Compute Service (ECS) comes with fast memory and the latest Intel CPUs to help you achieve faster results with low latencies across global data centers to power your cloud applications. All Alibaba Cloud ECS instances integrate Anti-DDoS protection to safeguard your data and applications from DDoS and Trojan attacks, as well as monitor real-time visibility of security breaches and block common attack patterns.
With Alibaba Cloud’s ECS you can deploy instances with a few clicks via a clean and easy-to-use console, and scale capacity up or down based on your business or web application’s real-time demands. You therefore only pay for the resources you use, and avoid the need to provision expensive IT infrastructure, hire network teams and purchase expensive software.
Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) is an easy-to-use service that enables you to store, backup and archive large amounts of data on the cloud. OSS acts as an encrypted central repository from where files can be securely accessed across the globe. OSS guarantees up to 99.9% availability and is a perfect fit for global teams and international project management.
OSS is available at no upfront cost or long-term commitment. You only pay for the actual usage of storage space, network traffic and number of requests processed. Alibaba OSS also comes with no limits on data storage.
Alibaba Cloud CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a network of 530 nodes distributed across the globe to deliver content from your website to end users anywhere in the world. Through the Alibaba Cloud CDN you can effectively shorten website response times to milliseconds, ensure smooth video streaming and handle large volumes of traffic.
The Alibaba Cloud CDN is a low-cost and scalable service, and comes without any long-term contracts or minimum usage commitments. This way you only pay for content delivered through the CDN.

Structured cabling is the design and installation of a cabling systems that will support multiple hardware uses systems and be suitable for today’s needs and those of the future. With a correctly installed system your requirements of today and of tomorrow will be catered for and whatever hardware you choose to add will be supported.
Structured cabling design and installation is governed by a set of standards that specify wiring data centers, offices, and apartment buildings for data or voice communications using various kinds of cable, most commonly category 5e (CAT5e), category 6 (CAT6), and fiber optic cabling and modular connectors. These standards define how to lay the cabling in various topologies in order to meet the needs of the customer, typically using a central patch panel (which is normally 19 inch rack-mounted), from where each modular connection can be used as needed. Each outlet is then patched into a network switch (normally also rack-mounted) for network use or into an IP or PBX (private branch exchange) telephone system patch panel.
It is common to color code patch panel cables to identify the type of connection, though structured cabling standards do not require it except in the demarcation wall field.Cabling standards demand that all eight conductors in Cat5e/6/6A cable are connected, resisting the temptation to 'double-up' or use one cable for both voice and data. IP phone systems, however, can run the telephone and the computer on the same wires.
Regardless of copper cable type (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) the maximum distance is 90m for the permanent link installation and an allowance for 10m of patch cords at the ends combined. Cat5e and Cat6 can both effectively run PoE applications up to 90m. However, due to power dissipation there is better performance and power efficiently with Cat6A cabling running POE devices if being incorporated into a new design.
Cabling infrastructure is the lowest cost portion of your network, yet the most important for performance and reliability. Implementing the right structured cabling system, from connectivity to cable, is imperative to achieve optimum performance from your network equipment, telephone and computer systems. Data centers are about more than data, they are increasingly the mission-critical nerve centres on which many organisations depend, so choosing the right structured cabling system to connect all the active components is essential.
For high bandwidth and long distances we recommend using Fiber Optic cable. We can provide and install Fiber Cabling in either single mode or multi mode grades. For your network data infrastructure installation we will use your choice of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a or Fiber Optic cable. Most likely you will need voice services to go along with your network needs. If so, it makes sense to run the voice and network data cables together as they are usually terminated in the same area (Desks, Cubicles etc). For voice or telephony services we can install a wide range of cables from Cat3, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 and of course fiber optic. Your cable terminations will be completed per your network design on Punch Blocks, Patch Panels, Jacks or with ends suited to the cable. We will test and label all terminations to ensure they meet EIA/TIA standards.
